I’m typing this as summer begins to wind down for me and the family. Kids are heading back to school in a few weeks and I’m halfway through the last vacation of the summer here in Whistler. I also officially start my new day job next Monday (if you don’t know what I’m talking about, read this post). It feels like eons ago when I was shooting these photos in San José del Cabo, just kicking off the summer season.

It's mid-August in Whistler and I'm finding it difficult to decompress. It's truly a weird feeling.

Not for the lack of trying. I mean, there is no other place on earth that calms me more than Whistler but my mind has been so distracted with all the things I want to accomplish in my new role. Starting a new job is an exciting journey that can lead you down numerous paths. As someone who is Type A, I’m anxious to start and begin providing value right away. I am also aware that given it’s our family’s last summer vacation this year that having fun together and not thinking about work should be the priority. My kids are not going to be young forever and they - along with Keith - are the only constant in my life. They deserve me being fully present.

I had started meditating for a while to calm the noise in my head - that was a while back when I followed the Breathe app. I think I need to take it back up again and remember how I used to successfully compartmentalize my life. It’s going to be a busy Fall season - ack! Ok, breathe…

I can do this.
