Every year I make a trip out to Paris for Fashion Week. Planning for this year, however, went a little differently...initially.

World events, instability of the Canadian dollar plus costs of flights were just too much to bear so I decided to skip it. I would normally use my points for the flight but I burned them all for the trip to my boyfriend's mom's place for New Years. So for the first time in over a decade I was going to skip a year from being in the City of Light. And I was going to be okay with it.

Little did I know that months later, Air France would be offering rock-bottom deals, direct to Paris from Vancouver, for $691 including taxes?! Taxes are generally the toughest part of rationalizing the flight expense because it can sometimes amount to nearly 45% of the base fare itself (looking at you, Air Canada!!). When I saw this, I was - believe it or not - humming and hawing about it. My boyfriend said I would regret it if I didn't take advantage of it. Plus, I was in desperate need of a solo trip somewhere. Boston, New York, Paris and LA were considered but I had already decided it would be too much - especially going to the US.

So after much deliberation I finally gave in and decided to go. I will have my ME trip after all. And it just happens to overlap Fashion Week halfway, so yours truly will be reporting from the front row again for FW2016/17! Beyond fashion reporting, cooking classes, photography, some painting, lots of wine drinking accompanied by shopping, is just what the doctor ordered. Which I will also follow to a tee!

A bientot!
