Hibiki Cocktail + Listening Lounge

Friday nights just got a little more interesting in Vancouver.

I recently got a taste of Hibiki — a new cocktail and vinyl listening lounge concept in the basement of the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver in collaboration with Beam Suntory.

Pop ups at the Castle in the City’s lower lobby are not new and happens a few times a year with a seasonal theme. This one, however, feels different to me — a serious attempt at recreating a space reminiscent of bars in Tokyo. Its decor is intentionally restrained in comparison to many of Hotel Van’s previous themes. It’s really well done.

There are a couple of solid cocktails and premium whiskies, a strong selection of bites and a rotating list of DJs spinning vinyl on select nights. The vibe is immaculate.

It’s worth a visit — this one’s a good one.

Available through the spring with potential extension through the summer. Seatings are primarily on a first-come, first-served basis, with limited reservations available here.
