Chanel Haute Jewellery Collection Debuts in Vancouver

Chanel Haute Jewellery Collection Debuts in Vancouver

Chanel’s black and white themed haute jewellery collection finally made its way to the Vancouver boutique months after many of the pieces debuted during Paris Fashion Week. This is the stuff of dreams, of true eye candy. Think of it this way: what costume jewellery is to ready-to-wear, haute jewellery is to haute couture.

No expense nor time is spared. There are no short cuts. Only the highest quality black and white diamonds, opals, black onyx and pearls are considered and the craftsmanship is exquisite.

I spent yesterday morning at the Vancouver boutique in a private, 1-on-1 special preview of this exclusive collection. An eclectic set, to be sure - as Coco Chanel drew inspiration from her love of astronomy, plumes, the iconic camelia, and lions. There were even some pieces inspired by trees in her country home in France; ones resembling weeping willows.

At once overwhelming but also curious after a while as you get to see a glimpse of who Coco Chanel was as a creative artist. And that there is certainly much more diversity to the Chanel brand than what most of the world has seen, and built up.

The pieces will be showcased for the month of May.
