FLOWERS, THE FLOWER FACTORY | SHOT ON LOCATION, FAIRMONT PACIFIC RIM

In my last post, I gave a teaser about what my next post would be: what I slipped into for a night on the town after that wonderful hot bath surrounded by the red petals of two dozen roses. But I think instead of doing that on a Monday, I'll leave that for Friday. How's that for planning on the fly - and letting you know about it? Ha! That's what you get when I've been distracted all weekend by a housewarming and birthday party for my bae, along with heading out to enjoy the gorgeous weather on Sunday.

So instead, seeing as it's #MotivationMonday, let me be all #girlboss and show you one of my favourite looks for the office. Super feminine, sexy and yet all business. As a textile designer, I'm constantly studying the quality of the clothes in my own closet. One of my favourite types of fabric is tweed. It's got this rough, flexible and open homespun texture to it. It's usually woven with various types of colored yarn in a plain weave and can even include metallics for more textural interest. Many of you will associate tweed as the fabric used in Chanel's famous power suits. I mean, that alone should peak your interest, no?

You generally wouldn't want to wear tweed head to toe, and in this case - this beautiful pink and white strapless Floriane Fosso tweed dress paired with a white, flowy Oak + Fort blazer lends a comfortable elegance while also being suitable for business meetings. Remove the blazer and the dress plus suede BCBG nude stilettos turn the afternoon into cocktail hour. Floriane Fosso is a French designer based in Paris who's just recently opened up her flagship store in the 1e arrondissement at Palais Royale. Now she knows tweed like no one's business (especially after a stint at Chanel) and upcycles luxury fabrics discarded by the many design houses in France for use in her own collections. This is eco-luxury at its finest.

In full disclosure, I work mostly from home, so I'm usually in my sweats, err...elegant loungewear, hair tied up (it's a little tougher now at this length) and glasses. Believe me, it's not sexy, but this is. And I'd like to keep my fantasy this way, please.
