Cuddling Up to Spring

Given how Vancouver’s weather can change on a dime - where one day it’s a balmy 25 degrees Celsius and the next day it’ll be 13 degrees and raining, you can’t quite do a wholesale change with your closet. That’s why I keep sweaters in my dresser year-round. You never know when they’ll be handy and hey - they’re super comfortable and cuddly...

Rainforest and Botanicals

Although many of us in Vancouver are complaining about the rain and grey clouds this week, one of the benefits of such weather is the ability to shoot very moody editorials. Witness this shoot that I recently did with Carolyn Tanaka. A very talented photographer, Carolyn was able to capture some pretty stunning, rich and creamy shots (yes, there are such descriptors for photography) on a particularly rainy day in Vancouver...

Jumpstart Jumpsuit

The weather in Vancouver is now finally warming up during the day but it can still get quite chilly at night. When this happens, I usually call on my trusty jumpsuit when I head out for the night. Still keeping most of me covered (i.e., warm), it's a great way to dress up without actually wearing a dress. And the whole off-the-shoulder thing nudges it into the fancy category without trying too hard...

Chanel Haute Jewellery Collection Debuts in Vancouver

Chanel’s black and white themed haute jewellery collection finally made its way to the Vancouver boutique months after many of the pieces debuted during Paris Fashion Week. This is the stuff of dreams, of true eye candy. Think of it this way: what costume jewellery is to ready-to-wear, haute jewellery is to haute couture...

Let's Be Frank

We all want to simplify our lives to do the things we really want to do, like spending more time with loved ones. I know I’m not alone in thinking this. That’s why we have special apps that we rely on, or services that help make our lives simpler. Now what if one of your favourite clothing companies offered a service where they would send you clothes each month based on knowing what your preferences are? Would you try it?

I Heart NY

After going to Paris Fashion Week for the last five years straight, I’m taking a break from the City of Lights for the lights of Manhattan. That’s right, folks, this chica is headed to the Big Apple for New York Fashion Week in September! To say I’m excited is an understatement. I’ve been to New York numerous times over the years - for work and for play - but never for Fashion Week. It will be interesting to see...

Easing into Spring

Let's face it, with the current weather we've had in Vancouver (i.e., rain showers, torrential downpour, more showers, light drizzle, five hours of sun, rain, and more rain) it's been increasingly hard to get motivated for Spring. Yes, April showers bring May flowers - and the streets of Vancouver are now lined with cherry blossom trees in full bloom. But honest to God I'm sick of waking up every morning staring at the rain and I've lived here my whole life! So you can imagine why no Vancouverite in their right mind would...

The Real Deal

Authenticity is a big word these days. In a world where people are judged by the number of ‘likes’ and ‘comments’ on a single post, it can be very difficult to sift through the noise and find an authentic voice. As a blogger, my goal is to deliver my form of expression - with no set rules and no governing body trying to frame my story within boundaries. It’s just me and people can either take it or leave it. They can agree with my opinion and like my photos or...

Nifty and Thrifty

As you know, I love fashion - but even more so when you can mix and match what you already have in your closet. It’s not always necessary to go out and buy a completely new outfit every time there’s an event - it’s just as fun to shop in your own home! When I do get the urge to pick up something fresh, however, I prefer heading to my nearest...

Spring Giveaway!

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend and had a chance to get out - at least yesterday - to enjoy the sunshine here in Vancouver! It was SUCH a gorgeous day! Even though I was still sick and feeling yucky I managed to overdose on DayQuil and put on my big girl pants to head out into the fresh air! I can't remember the last time I saw sun in this city! Mind you, I've been away for two-and-a-half weeks so it's based on what friends and family have told me and what I follow on social media. It's been either raining or snowing - so the sun is a really nice departure from the ordinary! In celebration of our one day of sunshine, I'm doing a Spring Giveaway...

A Chilly Affair

Every time I return to Paris, it’s a short but intense love affair. Ever since my boyfriend left the City of Light in pursuit of love in Vancouver, my travels to France have now become only a yearly occurrence - always timed with the Fall-Winter ready-to-wear shows in March. What that means is that I no longer get to experience (read: enjoy) Paris in the springtime - and I do miss that. This particular trip was tough as it rained practically every day. On the day of my arrival, the rain showers were...

Moon Young Hee FW17 at Paris Fashion Week

Moon Young Hee, well known for her billowy layering and draping on outerwear, continued that approach for FW17. She did, however, emphasized the collection with a cool girl vibe with her frequent use of paisley prints paired with an oversized vest, belt and military boots. That look was a counterpoint to...

Each x Other FW17 at Paris Fashion Week

Each x Other presented a very ecclectic mix of styles for its FW17 collection - a mix of street style one day and cool girl conservative attitude the next. It was tough to pinpoint its focus, and perhaps that was intentional. From multi-layering of the standard suit jacket (like the stand out mustard blazer with a frill lapel line and gusset-boxed pockets) to its multiple use of satin, velvet, fur and laser-cut details on yet a different suit.

Christian Wijnants FW17 at Paris Fashion Week

Christian Wijnants, a Belgian designer, is known for creating rich, colourful graphic collections that have won him numerous awards. His FW17 collection showcased recently in Paris is a perfect example of his work. Loads of prints - in multiple layers coupled with textural elements in both silks, knits and synthetic fabrics offers an immediate contrast to the typically muted winter palette.

Marimekko AW17 at Paris Fashion Week

The Marimekko show was probably one of the most civilized shows I've ever been to at Paris Fashion Week. Taking place at the Finnish Embassy, there was no chaos before the show, everyone was waiting patiently to be let upstairs as the production teams were still setting up. Once upstairs, the PR teams all had big smiles and we were greeted immediately with...
